Ways to reach Sikkim from Siliguri

By Air

Pakyong is the nearest airport to reach Sikkim, about 35 km away from the state capital, Gangtok. The second airport to reach Sikkim is Bagdogra Airport which is around 124 km from Gangtok. Bagdogra airport is well connected to significant parts of the country. Many public transportation options are available from there to get to this beautiful state.

Sikkim Helicopter Service

By Road

A few turnovers are there NH110 and NH-717A; both are connected to NH-10 at Kalimpong. You can take a turn via Rishi Road too, which ends at Darjeeling. Sikkim Entry Permits

Foreigners except Bhutanese must have a valid Protected Area Permit or Restricted Area Permit to enter Sikkim. Individual travelers can visit Gangtok, Tashiding, Yuksom, Rumtek Monastery, Phodong, Pemaytangtse Monastery, etc. For entry into other places, foreign tourists are required to travel in groups with a travel agency. The permits are issued for 15 days which can be extended to 30 days, in two splits of 15 days each. In most cases, the validity is not extended beyond that period.
